It's fascinating to see what happens when Big Baby (and their evil minions, GOP politicians) push this hard and ferociously against the natural law. Everyone and their sister intuitively groks that it is the gravest of sins to force a woman to bear a child against her will. Goddess will not be mocked.
video clip showing AZ Republican senators on the senate floor 'praying' the night before their supreme court ruled on the 1864 law. These people have mental problems (or compelled to act like this) and should not be anywhere near policy making for the world at large. Vote them out!
And apparently the one leading them was a Jan 6er and fake elector. You know what this reminds me of? This abortion boondoggle has a Russian angle. Many R congress critters are on Russia's payroll, I would guess and MTG, anyone? How did a little known, from nowhere first time congresswoman gain that kind of prominence and got so close to trump and why? See what the expert on fascism says:
Timothy Snyder
@TimothyDSnyder
Given what we know of Russian intentions and European investigations, the presumption has to be that some US legislators are on the Russian payroll. Nice analysis here.
Exactly, Jessica!!! Republicans do not value women. I’m a signature collector to get Abortion Access onto the November ballot. Yesterday, 4 days after AZ Supreme Court passed the ban, people were signing the petition in droves, actively looking for locations to sign and they are pissed.
This will not stand! At least, I will not stand for it. Writing and protesting are important, but we need to do more. Hit them, whoever they are, where it hurts - their wallets. Can we cut off the money that supports these crazy states and politicians? Can we publicly shame the companies that are donating to republican PACs and candidates? Anyone have any suggestions?
Given that the only things that matter to our overlords are our dollars and our votes, I vote in every single election, rarely shut up about it, drawing attention to connections between all of the issues plaguing us...and I boycott ruthlessly. When I absolutely can't boycott something, I make an equal (at minimum) donation to a pro-[cause] org and let the company know that I made a donation in their honor. I recognize the privilege that allows me to do this, and I take it all the more seriously as I am doing this both for me and for those who can't.
What you wrote about taking away women's humanity gave me chills. That's exactly THE purpose of this cruel legislation we're seeing from states.
The C-section requirement puts women at much more health risk than just an abortion to remove the non-viable fetus.
I would like to see more about this particular issue being used. With hard facts. For example: (I don't have accurate figures, this is formulated from things I've read)
1) 14x more likely to die from C-section than an abortion
2) 6-12 WEEK recovery from C-section, vs 2-3 days for recovery from an abortion
3) Cost of C-section $7,523 to $25,211; cost of abortion $600-$800 (I googled for these costs)
And the women who are forced to have a C-section have to pay for it, of course. Maximum punishment in every way with these legislators. I have a $7,500 deductible that I'd have to come up with after being forced to have unnecessary and unwanted surgery. And there could be loss of pay for being out of work while recovering.
So, these laws can drastically affect a woman's financial health, on top of her physical, mental and emotional health.
Re: chills, have you seen that thing that goes around occasionally, where someone talks about her experience as a teen reading The Handmaid's Tale? Becca, @charmsblowpop on Twitter (I refuse to call it "X"):
"I was 13/14 when I read The Handmaid's Tale. It always stuck with me when Offred is trying to pinpoint the moment women were enslaved. As she looked back, it was a thousand little moments. I'm looking back & seeing the trail of breadcrumbs that lead to today. I'm terrified."
Which is why it's so frustrating to be told that we're and have been overreacting. No, we're just observant canaries in the coal mine and you are LITERALLY THE PROBLEM. Good news is that the patriarchy has made us impossibly strong, with incredible endurance, the ability to multitask like MFers, and a bottomless pit of rage. Keep pushing, old white dudes -- you're digging your own graves.
I have absolutely given up on trying to convince those who oppose my basic humanity, because no matter what we say, what we share, how we plead, they do. not. care. So they are irrelevant to me and no longer provoke nearly as much anger and disbelief. They are dinosaurs, panicking because they see their end coming, and they know the only way they can win, because their views are deeply unpopular and we outnumber them, is to convince us that resistance is hopeless. So I focus on young women, old women, and everyone in between, helping to build networks of information, resources, support, and SOLIDARITY. Our collective fury is what's going to get us through this and make clear to those in power than when they come for one girl or woman, they come for us all.
Jessica, I cannot wait for your book to come out. I adore your writing and the way you get your point across by stabbing these idiots with words and not with sharp objects.
I understand misogyny, and if males had vaginas we wouldn’t be here now.
Yes this is so right on!!!!! How can we get every democrat to READ THIS NOW!?!?!?!?!
And I’m envisioning a humor/rage video educating folks how to not jab their pens too hard through their ballots - out of rage voting - when they vote. Like be sure to meditate and breathe, carry some lavender oil with you so you can peacefully FILL THAT SAVE REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS BOX!!! VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!!!
Can you confirm that women in every state can still order abortion pills by mail. I will search on my own, but I sometimes find conflicting information and I know you know. All of us who write about abortion should mention this every single time.
Trump and Kari Lake are only criticizing the law, saying it has gone too far, because it happened in a swing state where they are worried about losing Republican voters or Independent voters who believe in a woman's right to control her own body. I put a chart in my substack that lists the other 14 states with total bans who voted for him in 2020. He hasn't said jack shit about the women in those states who are suffering. https://talkaboutchoice.substack.com/p/wtf-florida-no-wait-i-mean-arizona
It’s interesting to see so many of them put out statements claiming this went too far but I bet if anyone in the press asked for specifics — too far, in what way? — the answers back would be damning.
There’s nothing in this law that isn’t actively being pushed in other states — as AED clearly pointedly says this law just gives away the game.
They hate the branding. They hate the optics. They are fine with the results.
Yup. Our suffering is a feature, not a bug. They just think they can convince us that their 50+ year effort to make this exact thing happen isn't what they really believe in and support. Dog finally catches car, panics, claims was chasing squirrel, would never chase car, loves cars and freedom of cars from dogs. Sure, Jan. Enjoy your return to the private sector.
Did you hear about that doofus who mentioned that we supposedly support abortions for "one-year-olds?" It would be infuriating if he wasn't so Godawful STUPID.
Yes! Not just stupid but seriously sick. Has he seen a one year old? Can he imagine someone who would have sex with a one year old? Supposedly, there’s a rare condition called precocious puberty where the body begins to enter puberty too early but I’ve never heard of it happening at one.

Spot-on. Do you have a Facebook page to post this? I would love to share, as certain people are only on FB, and they need to read this!

Yes. mayday.health or plancpills.org will connect anyone in any state for ordering abortion medication online.
Thank you!!!!

Yes. Exactly.
Excellent points and it’s clear when they claim women AND doctors murder babies up to and after birth.

Excellent, well-written post. I agree with you on emphasizing the republican misogyny.
Need to be working in a swing state to get people out to the polls and bringing popcorn.
You nailed it again, Jessica!
