Is this a new case or has it been documented here or elsewhere?

A struggling Nevada mom suffers a miscarriage. Then the police show up and arrest her for manslaughter, and she's sentenced to 2.5-8 years in prison. Only when a pro bono lawyer steps up and appeals does a judge reverse the conviction and set her free to return to her children. This is family values? Think about that as you vote. https://washingtonpost.com/investigations

"Is it embarrassing to be this revved up about stickers in your mid-40s?" - Absolutely not! I'm in my late-40s and super excited about these particular stickers 🥳

Jessica I’ve been telling people your new book is about freedom seen through the lens of abortion. It’s insight into the way the connivers connive in general. It’s a really important book. I love seeing it referenced by other thought leaders. It’s only been a few weeks since it came out! ♥️

Do you have a discussion guide for Abortion? I'm convening a small group of women (none of whom besides me read Abortion Every Day but all are abortion rights supporters) to read and discuss the book. Would love to learn from others also if anyone is doing this with their book group or another group!

i am a fellow New Yorker and even though the GOP is on their bullshit, the New Yorkers for Equal Rights has been doing the work to let people know about Prop 1 and to vote yes. i myself have done text banking and we're not just rolling over and letting the opposition think they can win. Plus, according to polling, upwards of 70% of New Yorkers support prop 1 so i know the vast majority of New Yorkers support equal rights for all of us.

plus as far as i know, poll workers always let voters know if there is a proposition on the ballot and the language is pretty clear that a 'yes' vote means ensuring equal rights

All female animals on this earth may experience a heart-crushing miscarriage that physically and mentally devastates the mother and her family. In 2024, I cannot accept that ignorance is the reason people do not understand the nature of giving birth and the many complications that surround it. A mother cannot control what her body naturally rejects because her body cannot perform its job of delivering a healthy baby due to its role of preserving the life of the mother. When a fetus becomes a threat to the life of a mother, the body rejects the injured fetus. This process is standard for all created animals on Earth. The person who ordered a manslaughter charge against this woman needs to have their head removed from within their body part where the Sun doesn’t shine.

Hello everyone. I am from Portland, Maine, the father of three daughters, one of whom is expecting in March, and have come out to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to volunteer for the campaign of Dr. Kristin Lyerly, an OB/GYN who is running for congress in this very red district. I am excited to say she has momentum and could pull it off! She is the real deal, and I am thrilled to be able to work with the great folks in her campaign. Please look her up if you get a chance: https://www.kristinforwisconsin.com/. And I know everyone is being asked for donations about now, but if she can pay for a TV ad during Sunday's home Packers game, that would reach millions. I am just a worker bee in the campaign, but thought folks here would be interested. Thank you, and thank you, Jessica, for your hard work. When I met Kristin for the first time we talked about your work and your book, and how much we have learned from you.

When Harris wins (She has to win), we are still in a huge fight. She will have prevented Comstock and etc., but this nightmare is far from over.

Even if the ballot measures pass in all of these states, what happens after Harris? What happens if, in 2028, a Republican gets in? Do we go right back to this moment all over again? What can Harris do to sure up our rights permanently ?

The Dems are going to have to suspend the filibuster to pass anything, IF they even hold the Senate. If they don't hold the Senate, they can't nominate judges.

I just can't believe what's happened to this country.

I wish the Dems had been talking about abortion and women's health this openly twenty years ago. The phrase "better late than never" doesn't quite fit. But that Texas rally was so powerful. I just hope it reached people.

Was proud to vote yes on Prop 1 here in New York. Fingers crossed.

I think dems also need to point out that a Trump presidency could very easily become a Vance presidency, and I suspect he’ll be even worse when it comes to abortion than Trump if he gets any power. Jennifer Rubin had a great piece on this in WaPo, which I am still reading even though I unsubscribed (may Jeff Bezos rot in a hell in which he experiences endless morning sickness).

I canceled my WaPo but I still have months to go before it runs out, so I tried to write a comment that had Bezos name in it. It was immediately rejected for violating their terms. Hmmm..... My comments have never been rejected before! There was nothing alarming about what I wrote, as there can be in some of the comments in there that others make. WaPo's comments can get very nasty.

Bezos wants a rightwing paper. He's not upset about the 200,000+ subscribers like us who have left. He wants his space company venture to thrive.

Your first statement is absolutely correct. Bezos wants a right-wing paper, because he does not want to pay his fair share of taxes.

He hired Will Lewis (the Murdoch tabloid criminal) in an attempt to boost subscriptions he does care about the numbers, that is why it is important to cancel subscriptions, to send a message, he was counting on WaPo's decades of truth telling, to cover turning it into Fox, but for the middle, except they keep taking it right to increase the subscriber base, which pisses off the actual subscriber base. He fails to realize you cannot be both, anymore, so keep those cancellations coming, maybe he'll fire the tabloid clown and start improving the paper.

“Luminol in hardcover” is brilliant. Nearly as brilliant as the book itself!! Congratulations Jessica! I learned so much from the book even though I read AED religiously.

Re: Michelle Obama’s speech—I spoke to a 4th year medical student recently who is in the process of applying for residencies. I asked her what effect abortion bans were having on her and her classmates’ choice of which states to go to to do their residencies. She said most of her classmates, who will be pursuing every kind of medicine, not just Ob/gyn, were purposely avoiding applying for residency in states with abortion bans. Not all of them, but a large percentage. As I’ve said before in this space, THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. So if men think abortion bans do not affect them, they should think again. it’s going to be much harder for them to see any kind of doctor in states with abortion bans. Think about it. If a state cannot replace its medical manpower, and if it loses a large percentage of Ob/gyns, then a smaller number of PCPs and other docs will have to pick up the slack. Since they can only see so many patients, guess who will go to the bottom of the list? If you guessed men, you guessed correctly.

Men need to be educated and I thought Michelle's speech was very powerful.

I want to bring to everyone’s attention an article in the Economist in the last 24 hours entitled “Donald Trump could entrench a MAGA Supreme Court for a generation”. Unfortunately it is behind a hard paywall but the gist of the article is that if elected DJT will likely pick the successors to Alito and Thomas who will undoubtedly retire to allow Trump to pick their replacements. The article surmises that James Ho and Andrew Oldham (40ish YO religious radicals) would be likely picks. Plus it is not unthinkable that Sotomayor may elect to retire because of health issues. So it is conceivable DJT could pick another three Supreme Court justices. It was the inability to see the risk of this with his first term in office that allowed Roe to be overturned.

If DJT picks two or three more Supreme Court justices that national ban that JD says isn’t in the works will happen.
