I wouldn't describe myself as a single-issue voter but my entire adult life, I've regarded a candidate being pro-choice as a necessary condition to win my vote. I'm a bit of a PoliSci wonk (even though I'm a history major) and I consider the right to self-determination to be the cornerstone of human rights overall. And being anti-choice logically implies you don't support the right to self-determination.

It is time to realize that misogyny and cruelty are not "bugs" of MAGA but there essential elements. That is why abortion is the best single frame in this election IMHO.

I went to the Harris Rally Friday! It was a great experience. Over 30k like minded people. A captive audience that were educated about the specifics about the abortion laws. I heard so many gasps in the crowd during speeches and videos. As Jessica has said many people are not aware of the details of our abortion laws.

Many women told their reproductive stories and all were reminded that your vote is your power. Texas is a gerrymandered and voter suppression state. I’m hoping Beyonce stating she was there as a mother will motivate people to vote. I bet the txt string was awesome.

I sure hope Harris calling the Texas AG out and the rest of the TX GOP out pissed them off. They stink. Smell bad really bad.

It felt so good to have a powerful leader speak on our behalf. Texas is bluer than people think. Hopefully we can become purple. We need this blue 🌊💙 wave.

Proud to be a lifelong single issue voter! 👍🏼

Yes, my single issue is that I want to live without the government controlling my reproductive body parts. Seems pretty clear to me!

If I meet a man who asks why I am a single issue voter, I will say "because I want to control all my body parts. You? If you were asked to hand over your p@nis to the government, then you might be single issue too!"

"Because if I’m not considered a full human being in my own country, then what else is there?"

Hard to be a full participant in democracy if I'm dead.

When they accuse us of being single-issue voters, that we should care about "important" things like the economy (you know, the way "serious" people like men do) remind them that our ability to earn more money, advance into better projects and promotions, build our retirement funds is directly based on how well we control our fertility. So, protecting our ability to have an abortion and prevent pregnancy directly impacts how much we participate in the economy. We worry about abortion access because we worry about the economy.

We should all be single issue voters when it comes to owning our own bodies. It's the most fundamental liberty there is. If you don't own your body, you own nothing at all.

Another PSA: a USPS collection box (those blue boxes in your neighborhoods) was set ablaze in AZ in a Dem leaning county. Please don't put it in any old collection box somewhere, take your ballot to the post office. Obama made a video of him putting his ballot in the collection box and I was thinking wow, that is not very secure and then read about this AZ story.

I don’t trust DeJoy. Take your ballot to a secure and manned ballot drop box. I live in AZ. That’s what we do.

And as a medical professional, I can tell you the fact there is no such thing as a “miscarriage”, there are just “spontaneous abortion” or “elective abortion”s on a patient’s medical history when I get a new female patient! So I’m not only voting for Kamala Harris for MY personal need but also for my professional needs!!!!!!!!

I made that same comment at a troll the other day, the forced-birthers trying to change medical terminology piss me off.

PSA: (see WSJ article) Musk is a Putin's puppet (or accomplice); trump is a Putin's and Musk's puppet; Vance is everyone's puppet...

remember this as you vote today to stop America from becoming Putin's puppet.

#VoteBlue up and down the ballot.

The polls basically say the race is a tie. But!! What did the polls say in 2022? Well , they were wrong! There was a blue wave. There will be a blue tsunami in November!!

The numbers for women in early voter numbers look good but we can't get complacent. Also the R and I numbers are misleading this election because I feel there will be a lot more crossover this election. And, what Susan V said.

Expand full comment

Ignore the polls. I don't recall where I saw this but the GQP is flooding us with bogus ones to make us think it's close. They must think we're so stupid that we'll just throw up our hands, say oh well it's over and not vote. That said, we do need to vote as if they are accurate. My hope is that we win with numbers too big to contest.

As an aside, I used to work for NPR and even though we partnered with reputable organizations to conduct polls for us, I never trusted anything related to presidential elections! 😁

The irony here is that, right up until Dobbs, so-called "single-issue voters" were always people voting against, not for, abortion rights. For decades, Republicans promised their idiot base an end to Roe v. Wade, knowing they could promise it forever, knowing it would never happen. Until it happened and they suddenly had to defend what was totally indefensible. The Dobbs decision wasn't just a catastrophe for women, it was a disaster for Republicans. They're the dog that caught the car.

I recently read a book by Louise Penny and Hillary Clinton, in the end they shut down the traitors including two justices on the supreme court!

I highly recommend it! I had such a nice feeling reading it. Also, the president is cleaning up after a very dumb, semi-traitorous ignorant blowhard republican president!

Yes, I am a single issue voter. I don't respond to manipulation or nasty political tactics. Republicans and Trump abortion bans are killing and harming women. That they seem to think this is ok, or that it is something they don't take seriously, means they are not deserving of any job in government where they can continue this conduct. They need to be voted OUT, NOW. My partner and I are both voting on Saturday, blue from top to bottom. They ignore women at their peril.

I am a member of Democrats Abroad and we have a book club that is reading and discussing Project 2025 weekly. We are more than halfway through with our slog of the daunting, Christian Nationalist written doctrine. We also read materials related to P2025, and topics we discuss. One is why so many young men (Gen Zers)are voting for Trump, when it is young women are doing the opposite. Red, Wine and Blue will be discussing that next week.

And we have found a cool website that is a virtual comic against Project 2025. The first item on the list is Abortion. You can click on that link and see the comic about Abortion. Here is the link to Abortion.
