Exactly. So long as these laws remain on the books we the people need to make it so difficult to enforce them that they're effectively nullified.

These men are obvious enemies.

What has caught me somewhat unprepared is the realization that even some men who are our allies and who will vote for abortion rights - even these men may be frighteningly ignorant about both birth control and abortion. They may "support" us but they aren't able to argue persuasively about the issue.

It may be more of an issue with older men, not sure.

I can think back over my life and remember every birth control I ever used, every oopsie, every late period. Even men that I was intimate with, who I would have thought might have retained some memory of how we avoided pregnancy, have no memory. It wasn't their issue. They didn't experience the side effects of BC, they didn't worry, have sleepless nights, didn't cry in relief. They just inhabit a different world.

Your last sentence. It says everything (and about most topics that come up here).

I'm guessing younger men are better at this but still nowhere near good enough. The norm needs to be don't be intimate with someone if you don't understand how her body works. The problem is men don't suffer enough consequences for their ignorance or disinterest (again also true more broadly, to Jessica's point about qualifications for office.)

Ironically, the worst guy I knew in high school was Jeff Garlin... you know, the guy who got fired from his own TV show for being such a douchebag. Holy shit am I glad he's gotten some kind of social comeuppance so he won't ruin any more Pixar movies for me!
