I will somewhat optimistically say that the GOP is in such a rush because they recognize they have a narrow window to accomplish their agenda--I.e., bring about “God’s kingdom on earth”--before they lose hegemonic control next year. It’s harder to repeal laws than pass them unless the entire government flips.
With regard to the Texas law on DA misconduct… wouldn’t the county resident be able to use this as a means of harassment and revenge against any DA who has pissed them off ( as in they prosecuted a friend or loved one)? Seems like an attack on the rule of law itself.
Texas REALLY likes vigilante justice, don't they? I guess because then in the end it ultimately comes down to who has more assault rifles, and they like their odds there. We needed the military last time to settle this too, 160 years ago.
