Seriously scares the shit out of me.

It amazes me that several times when I wore my "Fuck Texas Abortion Ban" tee shirt to the gym I've had young women say they don't get it.... Just go somewhere else....Anyway it won't happen here (NY). I'm thinking of making up a shirt with your newsletter info on it.

Yes, if blue states women are indifferent to the plight of red state women that's a big problem.

It's so hard to like each of your posts. I'm so grateful you put yourself through this--I'd be hiding under my bed with everything you gather each week/day. But your work is so important. Thank you!

From the Students For Life site:

"In the world of birth control, the area of focus for pro-lifers (separate from religious belief) is abortifacient v. non-abortifacient. Abortifacient means that a device/substance is capable of unnaturally ending the life of a preborn child, primarily by thinning the lining of the uterus (endometrium) so much that a conceived person cannot implant and therefore dies."

You know what else thins the endometrium lining? Breastfeeding. So nursing mothers are evidently killing babies every month that they choose to feed their babies? Should we ban breastfeeding? These people are morons.

I rolled my eyes at 'conceived person'. I know what their meaning is, but I think of it here more as 'imaginary person'. It's still at the stage when you're imagining it, not at the stage when it's come into existence.

What's funny is that even more "conceived persons" are lost to chemical pregnancies, miscarriage and stillbirth but I haven't heard of any multi billion dollar, multi generation campaign in research to end those. Demonstrates how very little they actually care about fetuses. Their only interest is in their utility in justifying the punishment of women's sexual behavior to keep them subjugated.

Yes, exactly, although I think they would claim it's not that they don't care about those 'persons', but that those pregnancies are being ended by "god", "his will be done" 🙄, while these other pregnancies are being ended by wicked women and "abortionists" contrary to "god", to your point about punishment.

Jessica's work is invaluable for people who believe in the Constituion, Life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness, and that women are human beings with minds as well as uteri.

"yeah of course it's staffing issues; nobody wants to fucking work here."

That's the clarity of thought and writing that makes Jessica's work so invaluable!

I really can't blame doctors for leaving these states but I'm terrified it will make maternal and infant deaths even worse. I hope that at least most of these mothers will have the means to go where the doctors are so the ones left behind won't be so impacted.

It will; it's one of the upcoming phases of the crisis. It's more likely to turn out that those with means get priority from the remaining doctors than that they travel. The less advantaged the mother the uglier it will be. More evidence of Republican intent to turn the clock back not years but centuries.

I don’t know why I’m still surprised Republicans are literally trying to say abortion isn’t abortion-because it’s just so desperate and transparent but it’s just so bizarre to me..

It is SO WEIRD. And the thing is - people are buying it! That's what is making me bananas. I don't understand how all these people are not seeing through it

It just seems to be easier for people to lie to themselves than to take a step back and think critically. It’s almost unbelievable, except it’s not. :(

It's literally newspeak. Pretty on-brand for the Orwellian world they want us all to live in.

It's distressing her blog isn't getting more attention but I've been liking and commenting everyday in hopes it might gain favor among the algorithm gods. It's not much on my part but it makes me feel like I'm helping some in an era of hopelessness.

I really appreciate that! The good news is that there is an absolute upwards trend with readership. Wish it wasn't necessary, but I'm glad to be contributing somehow

Well that's a bit of good news. I didn't think it'd even make a ding against the almighty algorithm so I'll be sure to keep it up and remind people to start liking and commenting more when I'm on here. It's be awesome if you read this news on a YouTube channel, too!
