We’ve already heard from someone that an EMT friend is encountering many undocumented women who are ‘self-managing’ abortions in San Antonio. I know it is happening all over Texas and elsewhere. Something has to be done to let them know there are options.

republican politicians in many states have taken democracy away from women and made us second classcitizens. If trump gets elected, there's a plan to make abortion illegal in all states. "Project 2025". We need to vote all the bastards OUT!!!

Thank you, but that’s a different tragic story. Jessica writes “A teenager with an ectopic pregnancy who died en route to an out-of-state hospital after being denied care.” This is mind shatteringly horrible and rates up there with the worst post Roe stories. I’d like to share but can’t do it without a link.

What’s the difference in Ireland and US? The year for sure. What else? Maybe identifying differences will help.

But yes, anyone coming forward will be vilified; if there’s no skeleton, one will be invented. Almost impossible for an individual to sue for libel-and the damage already done. Had this happen to me when coming forward about abandoned disabled patients in pain post CDC guidelines. Finally harm acknowledged, still no care.

The mainstream media has given less and less attention on readers and viewers and more to their corporate interests and advertisers. The fourth institution was the subject of just yesterday's essay by Dan Rather on his Steady news site. It is excellent and dovetails exactly with what you are saying. I don't bother with most of the news in mainstream media anymore. The decline definitely started with Reagan. we don't even see these abortion deaths in the local news where these women lived. It makes no sense... I have to keep reminding myself that our fragile democracy is eroding, brick by brick. I get more in depth news from subjects that really matter to me thanks to Jessica and Dan.

Even if there is a "Savitha" here and I am sure there are or will be many, it will not result in the same outrage because the anti-abortion movement is on ascendance and they are drunk with power right now (hell, they have the SCOTUS on their side) . In Ireland, I think the shamefulness of having such medieval notion and practice leading to 'murder' played a huge part. Here, who is going to shame these fuckers? Media?

Look at this woman in the video. Who is going to tell her that she looks insane? Who is going to shame her for being wrong and she is clearly wrong?

Agree. It is not natural to feel and express those emotions without inhibition in public -- does she not have any family that cares about her and her well being? And there are millions more like her out there supporting trump and abortion bans.

I just wrote about today's topic earlier today...

I just saw another picture of happy French people after the pro abortion announcement.   What struck me as unusual was the amount of older people.  

Usually I see just smattering of older people in the crowd.  It still shows mostly women(the norm),  but usually much younger in age.   Is the key to establishing a normative stance on Abortion the engagement of older voters 🤔.  

This seems apropos too:
