Speaking of puppets, does anyone else think Mike Johnson looks a lot like Howdy Doody. And tRump is his Buffalo Bob. Check ‘Howdy Doody’ on Wiki

I like how Biden and Harris both pulled off a smooth transition, really masterful. There are complaints especially in the media (LOL) that Harris didn't go through a competitive process. Well, short of prolonging this to the convention and media braying all along and therefore, weakening us, we now have a chance to focus on trump and their extremist, unAmerican agenda. Harris is good at prosecuting that case for the people. We can have a robust primary in 2028 after we win the battle now. I hate to say this but after having seen Hillary's two attempts up and close, a woman cannot win under normal circumstances in this country (there will always be a Obama, or a Bernie Sanders mucking it up for us). Let us break ice with Harris now and then she can rise or fall on her own record in 2028. But at least we would have broken the stigma attached to a woman presidential candidate.

Absolutely, Hillary earned her way up the political ladder, and thirty years of smears by Richard Melon-Scaife, and Trey Gowdy and Kevin McCcarthy who even admitted their hearings were only about denting her electoral chances, dinged her just enough to cost her the election. Oh, and Putin who scared of her, because she had his number since she was SOS and knew what he was up to.

Donald Trump is scared, y'all. The entire right leaning clown car thinks that the GOP is going to win BIG in the presidential cycle after Roe was overturned. It's almost too good to be true. This is the reason abortion wasn't mentioned ONCE at the RNC convention even after the party's self-described 'greatest victory' in a generation was realized in the Dobbs opinion, which hangs in the American air today as the deadest of letters - emitting a disgusting smell that both offends and enrages voters.

We are witnessing a stunning example of mass public delusion as GOP politicians, unburdened by what has been, fantasize in public! GONE are the cautionary tales about a marble-mouthed nutter like Todd Akin. YESTERDAY'S NEWS, the steady patter of footfall from an army of voters (heretofore, disengaged) headed to the polls to remind GOP candidates WHO decides when & with whom a woman bears a child. Women all over the country being demoted to the status of broodmare is "a spot on the wall in the basement" according to Trump's own son.

I mean, holy hell, I thought it was something when I watched lifelong GOP moderates like Lady Lindsay Graham and Butchy Senator Tim Scott drop the golden thread of our 250-year old experiment and pick up the live wire of authoritarianism! The "strong man" persona of Trump protects the lilly livers of both SC Senators and makes them feel strong & powerful enough to force a poor woman to bear and give birth to a child against her will.

The American voters' continued response to the odious Dobbs decision is the most beautiful political thing I have ever witnessed in my almost 6 decades on Planet Earth. It's a fitting send off to a collapsed American institution, the Republican Party, a once grand old party. This is how the GOP ends - with the whimper of repeated electoral punishment and not a bang.

Love the word “whimper”. I’m going to use it more. Very fitting thanks 😊

It's from the poem by TS Elliot The Hollow Men about the world ending with a whimper, not a bang.

"The Hollow Men ; 1925 · 98 · This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper."

Hey there! Love me some Elliot! I'm headed into my "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" era, though I'll likely not carry as much regret with me as that title character seemed to. Have a beautiful day, EFN.

Yes we were in the protest perimeter near the RNC in Milwaukee last week. Heard the anti-abortion faction trying to scream over our BLM protest group about "abortion killing babies" and "blood on their hands". It was a handful of extremists with giant signs and bullhorns. We ignored them - and they soon slunk away.

"abortion after birth" Is there anyone outside of small number of complete cretins who believe this is a real thing?

Expand full comment

They don't do "language" very well as they are morons.

I think “abortion up to the moment of birth” or “abortion after birth” are mindless catch phrases like “life begins at conception” that anti-choicers craft and send out for people to parrot like slogans or team cheers without really thinking about what they actually mean. I’m guessing most people couldn’t really articulate what they mean if challenged.

And you'd be right.

Not even the cretins believe it. All the need is some media outlets to repeat it.

It's deliberate shock-value propaganda lies. Like the batshit stuff out of MTG or Alex Jones mouth.

and from the same sources of propaganda.

Well the more you say something the more they believe it. ( the ones who don’t know how to think for themselves)

“Lydia Polgreen at The New York Times asks why JD Vance isn’t being called the “DEI candidate;”

This is an excellent article and the position it argues need to be repeated over and over and over.

We all know the shade towards Harris is gendered even within the Democratic Party constituencies because we have all absorbed the messages of the patriarchy. How many different times can it be, “I’m not against a woman president I just can’t vote for that woman.”?

Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Gretchen Whitmer, Kamala Harris, et.al. What do these women all have in common? It’s a conundrum. Oh wait they are all bad ass bosses who get shit done, but sure it’s not about gender.

Expand full comment

Given many Republican Governors and state legislatures have demolished DEI and Project 2025 calls for a complete dismantling of it in the US.....one has to wonder what Usha Vance really thinks about the GOP? I don't get why these smart women of color go along with it. She was a registered Democrat until she married JD.

She also clerked for both Roberts and Kavanaugh. Seems like she’s all in for herself but doesn’t care about other women. I think of it as the “not like other girls” mentality.

I have spent all day today just being *excited* about Kamala Harris and how comfortable she will be just taking the Trump/Vance clown ticket to task. The election is still terrifying, but it’s a lot more comforting to know that we now most likely have a *fighter*.

Kamala only has to choose the right VP candidate and she will be unstoppable.

Abortion clinics need to fall under federal protection from violence and anti-choice landlords.

Republican strategists told them months and months ago to stop talking about abortion......looks like the GQp took that advice now. "Hey everyone.....mums the word about abortion until we're elected, then we will ban all of it....if we don't talk about it, they will forget"

NO assholes we will not forget!

"abortion czar" I would say Abortion Czarina, in deference to the Russian language, but since it is a borrowed word maybe czar works. There were actually two Czarinas, both named Catherine.

I am excited to see Kamala upending the GOP's expectations that she'll be even a little bit squeamish or defensive about using abortion rights as a galvanizing issue -- shame and fear just isn't going to work on her. Or us.
