Frankly, they (GOP) should rename themselves to the ‘Party of Hypocrisy’

Great article Jessica. People got to walk their talk. The political is the self.

"It's not censorship, it's life. "the world is moving on without them"... yes! They want to be stuck in the past. It's perceived safe there. The blaring snowflake irony makes us shake our heads. It's funny, but it's not. Their info sources are highly manipulated. It's hard to have a real conversation with someone who's view is so... off. Their whole program is about maintaining loyalty to a status quo that doesn't exist anymore.

For a party that is completely devoid of any actual policies or new ideas in the 21st century it is laughable that canceling "cancel culture" is one of their main objectives. Meanwhile, they are actually passing laws censoring conversations about race, LGBTQ+ issues, etc and in the same breath say THEY are "censored." No one is saying you can't have shitty opinions but if you are going to discuss your opinion on something in class/facebook/instagram you better be ready to back it up (especially with Gen Z they are FIERCE). GOP playbook: play victim, blame censorship/cancel culture, rinse and repeat.

Oh so now baby conservatives have feelings? Now that they are the tender flowers one mustn’t trample, we should all pay attention? Now that they “feel triggered” because college isn’t a “safe space” for self righteousness, they demand attention? Maybe they need to take a page from their own advice to “the libs” who they delighted in triggering. SMH.

"Expressing unlikeable views often makes you unlikeable. That’s not censorship, it’s life." So many reasons to love you Jess, but the pith captured in 12 words, phew.

Exactly! This has echoes of the article I read a while back where conservative men who supported Trump were having a hard time finding matches on dating apps. Of course they did! Few women want to date men who are bigoted, homophobic, misogynistic assholes.

A lot of things in life are grey-ish; some really are not.

Much energy has been wasted on the discussion whether the Trumpian GOP is comparable to the Old Nazi party.

To me that's a bit like comparing falling from a cliff to falling from a high building; you end up dead either way.

Trump is bad, the current GOP is the worst incarnation of what was a pretty amoral entity to begin with - and those who vote for him, excuse him or try to hide behind 'let's agree to disagree' bullshit won't but should look at the whole Mitchell & Webb sketch and not just this short clip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aF9LP-9uG_k

So yes, they are the baddies and perhaps the world is more tolerant than I can be but I despise them.
