I tried.. we tried… I’m devastated.

The other side of this plutonium coin is the gutting of sex education in FL. Please need to boycott the state, and all of the misogynist states. No more vacations, conferences, retirement condos down there. Spend your money where women are respected.

Florida is Bavaria with beaches The Amendment 4 loss began years ago when the GOP pushed through the 60% requirement for ballot measures. It's incredibly hard to overcome that. It got over 58% of the vote, but that wasn't enough.

Also the language on the ballot was completely misleading. I’ve never seen anything like it in all the years I’ve voted (since 1984).

Completely misleading and the Governor used our tax dollars (I believe from the money states got from the opioid settlements) to actively campaign against the amendment, on top of adding the misleading language. It’s so obvious which men are vying for a spot as commanders when we go full Gilead.

The 60% requirement is typical for GOP legislators who want to disenfranchise voters. Ohio tried it but got shot down so they came up with another way to try to block voter initiatives.

It's also hard to crack 60% approval on ballot measure.

The failure to pass this amendment is larger than ensuring women’s right to bodily autonomy. This failure will now allow them to go after pushing fetal personhood. It is a major disaster for the State.

I’m so disgusted and sad. And I know the trolls on this issue love it but honest to God how do we hold them accountable for the blood of the teens, women, and children that are now on their hands? The minority of a massive state now has a chokehold on the majority. Please remind me where the democracy or freedom of the frequently touted “free state of Florida” actually is? I’m married, 32, born and raised in Florida and moved back 1.5 years ago for my husband’s job. He knows that the only way we would ever have a family is if 4 passes and/or Kamala wins because it’s too risky otherwise. I’m mourning the fact I found my little dream house and I won’t feel safe though to bring a baby home to it or into this world. I’m mourning the fact to many girls and women less fortunate than I am will fucking die because of these disgusting policies. I literally only was born because a doctor in PA told my mother to get a D&C a decade prior giving her time to heal and leave her abusive alcoholic first husband before she was able to start over again with a baby she really wanted. I’m the baby. She gave birth to me in Florida. Fuck I am beyond words.

Despicable cheaters. We have to work so much harder just to get what people really want. This is not what I grew up thinking democracy in America was all about I live in California and I told my daughter she’s not allowed to go to college in southern states. That’s a sad situation.

She can get a good education elsewhere.

Even more insulting is passing amendment 2, enshrining the right to hunt in their constitution over rights for our bodies. Unbelievable

That's Florida corruption for you. The GOP machinery there is extremely well entrenched & you can’t put anything past them.

Amendment 3 in FL to legalize recreational pot also failed because it didn’t get 60%. Do NOT move to FL, do NOT come here, do NOT spend your tourist $ here. Trump, DeSantis, and the GOP have ruined the state

How did it get to 60% instead of a majority? Was the legislature able to do that by themselves?

What a seemingly avoidable tragedy. These pathetic men in power should feel fully ashamed along with the horrendously natured people who voted against recognized respect for women. Gratitude to all those fighting against such cowardly power. You are all an inspiration.

They should feel ashamed, but they care only for power, and their ability to impose their will on people whom they have rendered powerless.

I have to believe that there are people in Florida who are tolerant and caring, but apparently not enough to override DeSantis and company.

It's very, very sad.
