Their claim that med. abortion "suffocates the baby in the womb" is a direct corollary of following the Pythagorean Doctrine of Ensoulment that there is a spirit of life in the product of conception. So a fertilized egg cell is a beautiful one-celled infant! (That's from four-five centuries before Jesus, but is supposed to be "Christian"). The reality is that it's an expression of a passionate reproductive drive, but since they believe that it's part of God's Order, they have the right to use government to slave people. It's OFFICIAL RELIGION, but without the supernatural language like "Spirit of Life" (idea) or "Immortal Soul" (idea). For such people the Bill of Rights means nothing if it opposes their lust for conquest and possession of each vagina and uterus for forced reproduction of the species.

I suppose the putative harm to adolescents’ “developing reproductive systems” doesn’t happen if said developing system belongs to a girl who is married.

OMG. I cannot BELIEVE HOW BRAZEN they are by filing in Texas with that POS Matthew Kacsmaryk. There is more to the story here - especially since notably the Texas AG Ken Paxton isn’t filing. He’s another anti-abortion zealot. I think because the Senate race between Colin Allred and the most hated GOP Ted Cruz is close, Texas doesn’t want the publicity? I hope so, anyway. Three state AGs trying to block mifepristone nationwide needs to be a huge story before the election.

Thank you Jessica. I appreciate all the information that you provide. Most often we get so caught up in our own daily lives that I don't see what's happening around the rest of the country. I have kept an eye on abortion rights and issues for the last 40 years and I can't believe how ugly it has gotten. I've dealt with bomb threats, police escorts and pro-lifers screaming at patients but I can't believe how scary and nasty this has become. Thank you again, from Michigan

And Harris needs ads about this lawsuit ASAP, especially in states like Michigan where people think they're safe.

Demonizing doctors preying on "unsuspecting" women is just another tell that they don't see us as real people capable of agency.

Thank you, Jessica, that is a lot to process.

If Trump wins, I guarantee that Kacsmaryk will be appointed to replace Thomas or Alito on the SCOTUS, leading to decades of terrible rulings out of step with what most Americans want.

Quote: The states also claim that the decrease in population harms them by “diminishment of political representation” and “loss of federal funds,” like “losing a seat in Congress or qualifying for less federal funding if their populations are reduced.” End quote

That's hilarious. The Democrats need the illegals. The Republicans need the fetuses. Neither party can depend on the existing citizenship for political support.

“is likely to significantly impact the developing reproductive system of the adolescent female.” This is particularly disgusting because of the dehumanizing language. Female is an adjective used to describe one aspect of people, animals, plants, and even plugs and connectors. Researchers who study human subjects use male and female as descriptors just as they would ethnicity or age not as nouns. Whenever anyone uses the term as a stand in for women and girls you know they don’t think of us as people. They are stripping away everything about us but gender. I ask: female what? Do you mean female people? Cats? Marmots?

Female livestock, as to these nutjobs women are only valuable for their ability to breed.

Yes, it's a tell. Thank you for articulating so strongly something that we sense, because putting it into clear words is always an important step.

It just horrifies me that republican politicians have become so hardened to the suffering of others. On Nov 5, let's put them out of their misery. They're quite evil.

These Republicans must be scared and desperate. Judge shopping anyone? Using discredited studies? I mean, jeez. I’d be embarrassed if I was in their shoes. Smells like the weird suits that were filed after the 2020 election, the ones that didn’t go anywhere.

This is slightly off topic (I apologize), but I have stumbled upon a few people on social media who are explicitly stating that they are not planning to vote because they see “both administrations as evil.” So, excuse me while I go absolutely scream like a banshee into an abyss. Gonna lose my mind.

They’re talking about “harms” to try and strengthen “standing “.

Like they really know about harms. There are plenty of those to go around, but I see no Republicans getting harmed. Inflicting them, yes. Receiving them? Nope.

At least not on Earth.
