I love seeing children of conservative politicians speak out against their parents' godawful beliefs. I hate that these children have to put themselves in the unfriendly spotlight without even the support of their immediate family. It's a lonely place to be and they deserve better.
One important thing about the Ohio petitions. County boards of election are responsible for validating signatures. Early voting for the August election starts on July 11.
In other words, BoEs are slammed with validating signatures at the same time they are responsible for running the special August election Republicans ordered.
The problem with the federal judiciary is it's confirmed by the senate, which skews heavily Republican because each state gets exactly two senators regardless of size. This is the single most difficult part of the constitution for liberals/progressives (well, that and the process for amending it). As long as the senate is both composed that way and holds that much power, this constitution will NEVER be close to fair. Proposed court reforms don't change that.
If Ohio passes a reproductive rights amendment, it would be the first time a state constitution would explicitly protect abortion in a state in which all three branches of government - executive, judicial, and legislative - are dominated by Republicans. So it would be a test case to see whether the constitution is followed or not. My guess is they'd find a way not to. Remember that Florida's constitution bans gerrymandering and restores voting rights to felons, but neither policy is followed in the state. A constitution is only as good as the government enforcing it.

Extremists do not get to determine what ‘consensus’ is. Period.
Document the location of the pregnancy?
Ummmm...the uterus? WTF does that even mean?

This could get very ugly.
I would mockingly refer to this “consensus” BS as the Goldilocks Rule or the Baby Bear Rule.
