There's another problem with the FL court's opinion, flagged by a reader of education historian Diane Ravitch's blog. The court inserted a devious escape hatch if the pro-choice amendment passes, one that involves fetal personhood.

I’ve been noticing a few pro-life op-eds in the mainstream media in which the authors barely mention women at all. A lot one could say about that. The main takeaway I think is that we need to take note and keep bringing this back the realities of pregnancy and our bodies. Keep sharing our stories. They do not know what to do with that reality.

I've been angrily noticing that when even the pro-abortion side talks about "exceptions" we mention rape, incest, and life of the women, but what isn't mentioned is lethal fetal abnormalities. Kamala Harris did it just the other day. It's crucial to mention this. Women in Poland, for example, fought fiercely for that exception and when it was taken away they went into the streets in the thousands. We've seen the devastation caused by forcing women to carry dead fetuses, or those who will die in agony after birth, to term. The press is bad on this too. No surprise there.

Thank you for all of your fantastic work! Just a quick note to say that I was pleased to link to one of your posts on how exceptions are not real in this op-ed in Time yesterday: https://time.com/6965160/trump-nationwide-abortion-ban-lies-essay/

Thank you again for all you do.

Even as Republicans continue to systematically eliminate access to abortion, their efforts are being thwarted by a network of providers who mail abortion pills to ALL 50 states. Pregnant people need to know that pills are safe, accessible, low cost, and sometimes free—and they can get all the information they need through Plan C (https://www.plancpills.org/).

The Plan C website not only connects people to suppliers--it also provides media kits and stickers (https://www.plancpills.org/social-media-toolkit#IG-with-caption).

Get in some good trouble! If you live in a red state (or will be visiting one), order stickers from Plan C and paste them everywhere. Public bathrooms, of course—in a location where a person sitting on the toilet will see it (on the side of the toilet paper dispenser, for example, where it might not be easily seen—and removed--by someone cleaning the bathroom). In airports and at bus stops, on phone poles outside clubs and coffee shops, in music venues, in schools, in Target dressing rooms. Use your imagination. Give them to teenagers and have them distribute them wherever they go. Include men’s bathrooms.

If you live in a blue state, have stickers delivered to supportive friends or relatives who live in red states. And, of course, their usefulness isn’t limited to red states. Abortions can be hard to come by in blue states, too.

Stick(er) it to the man! Pregnant people can’t wait till November for the tide to turn.

Joy Reid's show was great tonight. She is the strongest commentator on TV in regard to this issue, in my opinion. She nailed it. Melissa Murray was on and said what we know: Believe the GOP will never stop and will try to subjugate us (my words) till fetal personhood is in the constitution.

Reid showed a clip of Heritage Foundation's Roger Severino, a real gem, saying " a house divided can not stand" in regard to NOT allowing states to decide abortion bans but that it has to be a nationwide ban. Was chilling.

I don't know what's unraveling this country more, Dobbs or Trump.

None of the MSM (NYT WaPo NPR etc) is reporting trump's 'moderating' abortion position with any accuracy but are broadcasting the lies and multiplying the confusion. Like Biden would say, who are we? ... we will show them who we are! No more wailing and getting angry or surprised at their ignorance and cruelty. Each one of us needs an action plan to counter this wherever we are.

AZ is a case in point -- we have the Dem governor, don't know about the legislature but their SC is fucked up; VA has majority Dem legislature but the governor is one of those bastards; NC has a Dem governor but super majority Rs.

The point being, it is not enough to just have a Dem governor or the Dem WH or Dem Majority legislature/Congress. We need to go blue everywhere at all levels to defeat these people. And these people are not regular Republicans, they are extremists. So shedding your party affiliation to vote for a Dem is OK. You are doing the right thing for your country.

Fun facts on Youngkin- he's so extremely huffy puffy because Democrats wouldn't let him spend 2 billion dollars on his absolutely stupid plan to move an arena 10 miles south from DC to Alexandria that absolutely no one wanted. About what you'd expect from a Republican 'fiscal conservative'.

He also vetoed recreational marijuana sales, establishing a board to review and limit drug prices, and a state minimum wage increase, among about a hundred other things. I can't wait for his political career to end when his term expires.
