This should have been talked about in 2016 in the mainstream media (without waiting for Mueller)! I have suspected that many MAGA grifters (and the grifter-in-chief) are on this type of payroll. Be aware that anti-abortion comes under this type of influence and disruption to undermine American way of living.
I like how the Nebraska legislator just assumed all of the religious leaders he contacted would just do his bidding, assuming that all religious leaders are anti-abortion. Even if they are anti-abortion, he also assumed that the parishioners would just do what they are told by their religious leader. They must think religious people are all sheep.
I think what happened in Alabama shows that the majority of women in all states want the right to have an abortion and they are waking up to the fact that a bunch of old white men who want to control women have gotten control of legislation while women were too busy balancing work and/or family to be politically engaged. Those of us who have been awake, even if we feel like we obviously didn't do enough, are working on waking everybody else up. I'm worried about how to reach out to younger women who don't get their news like we do (I'm 54). I reach out to my girls and bug them to reach out to their friends, but we need some serious TikTok and Instagram action.
Great news from Alabama. Liz Cheney had a huge crowd in IA and plans to barnstorm across swing states to take votes away from trump. If we get through this election without trump winning, watch out for the never trumpers to join force with the Dems next four years to push trump cult back under the rocks they came out of which may include all these radical anti-abortion extremists in individual states. If this whole exercise is successful, watch out for a Harris, Cheney match up in 2028 and my bet is on Cheney winning. I mean the never trumps want to keep their skullduggery hidden behind the scenes not have it exposed with the likes of trump and his minions.
Republicans might want to make peace with being despised, because I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
When my lifelong Republican father passed away a couple of years ago, I took far more consolation than I should have from the thought he’d voted for his last Republican. And Dad wasn’t even a Trumper - he despised Trump, and voted for Gary Richardson in 2016 and Biden in 2020. Didn’t stop him from voting for all the other Republicans, though.
Great Mother Jones article with Pregnancy Justice Lyn Paltrow. Her understanding and approach from a lawyer's perspective is substantial and broad,...... she is correct that a lot of people don't approach abortion this way in terms of a pregnant person's CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. Often too narrow of a focus is just put on abortion, I learned a lot from this article.
Jenny Cohn reposted. She does good reporting. I posted the original post below from the Dem Party Chairman of Hood County, TX. Hoping this will make national news.
In Orlando with my kiddos for a magical spring break, I wore my Biden Harris, “When women vote, we win” tshirt. We were in an Uber that was playing Christian gospel music when an ad ran along the lines of, “According to Psalms, God creates us in the womb of woman, our children are not our own, they belong to God and it’s our privilege to raise them for Him.” Ick. I’m a Christian but feel no need to pressure/guilt women.
So when they talk about parental rights, they are talking about men and not women with a uterus. See, that's what gets me about these people. If you look at the case of Laura Pemberton v. Tallahassee Memorial, the fetus was provided with a lawyer from the state and Laura, the birthing mother, was not allowed to decide she wanted to deliver her child vaginally. She was arrested and they held a hearing while she was in labor and she was not given representation. Now, if that fetus had been a born child, she would have had the right, as next of kin, to decide medical care. So what happened to her right as a parent to decide how that baby was going to be delivered? A similar thing happened to Rinat Dray in NY. Pregnant people lose their rights ONLY because they are pregnant.
That is correct. To Christian Nationalists, it's the father who has the rights. The mother is expected to obey the father. When a father is not present, the state assumes that role. Misogyny is built deeply, deeply into these people's 'thinking'.
All I have to add is keep it up and advocate for repo rights. Take breaks for self care, reenergize and keep at it.
When I get tired I remember that despite living in Texas there are still protests outside of PP in Houston! These same people were there when I had my abortion over 40 yrs ago. I’m not standing down ever. 💪👍🥰
Ironically, Laura Pemberton's husband was also present and supported his wife's wishes but he, too, was dismissed. Men should never forget that they won't have any voice either if the state is given power over reproductive decisions. We have to get the men to realize that they have as much skin in this game as the women do. And if there are children, they matter, too. C-sections are major surgery and carry a much higher risk of complications. The party of "family values" seems to be blind to this.
These kinds of stations, with these kinds of ads, are all over rural America on (mostly) A.M. radio stations. This ad also falls in line with the push of “life begins at conception” that anti abortionists etc. are pushing. Listen to what I posted below. That’s the world they want including jailing women, doctors, etc.
I kinda like that anti-abortion activists are protesting in front of CVS & Walgreens. All people will have to endure this nonsense in order to buy their makeup or snacks. This will be like forced “walking in her shoes” & I hope they really hate it. Then I hope this can extrapolate into intimidating these protesting idiots enough to put a stop to it altogether. I know, naive and blissful thinking but one can wish.
I think it’s significant. If people had any idea what someone in pain has to go through to get the pain treated, they’d be shocked. Contracts stating you can never leave a 40 mile radius because you have to be pee tested (some witnessed) any random time and random pill counts, etc. You can’t get additional medication for surgery or accidents. You might be discharged for a perceived poor attitude or not exercising enough, and then no one else will see you. Like parole. Not people with substance abuse, though I’m opposed to that treatment for them and maybe parole for that matter.
Serious question- Would someone please explain to me how anti abortion legislators continue to get away with lies about birth control and then act to turn those lies into laws?
Labeling IUD’s as an abortifacient (lie) in order to eventually ban them is an outrageous act.
Are national medical organizations pushing back against these lies? Are medical organizations showing up in state houses to fight? Are these medical organizations fighting for the best interests of their patients? Or, are they quietly “compromising” with these legislators in the false hope that if they give in, then these same legislators will stop further restrictive laws and bans?
They get by with it because we don't have medically accurate comprehensive sex education and people are ignorant about women's bodies and how the whole reproductive process works. And mainstream journalists, in their efforts to be "evenhanded," let statements made by anti-abortion extremists go without fact checking.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here but I'll repeat:
Most ppl think when we talk about Russian influence we mean a few bots and trolls on social media.
No.
This is HUMAN INTELLIGENCE. Russia recruits humans, pays them to write articles, say certain things, influence 1/

Well theirs are, so...

I think you were right to take that consolation. You were thinking of all the people who are hurt by these elected Republicans, and that's honorable.

"natural persons" No, no no. They're not persons. They're fetuses.
"Fetal personhood" is a contradiction.
Thank you! Words have meanings. The constitution says persons are born!

The problem is men are slow. Privilege blinds too many of them. They never believe the government would really do this to THEM.
🎯🎯🎯Ever so much this^^^

I meant Marilyn Lands. Sorry.
It seems clear what the majority wants. My fear is the C.F.'s will use cheating and violence to impose their nightmare on the majority.
Brava Mailyn Lands!! An inspiration for hope.
