Sometimes I wonder whether closet Republicans are running as democrats and showing their true colors at critical moments.

Decades ago each party had both conservatives and liberals within it, and the education divide didn't exist either. White Americans have pretty much completely sorted out on those lines. But Americans of color are much more likely to be Democrats regardless of ideology, education status, etc. (Which is why Republicans always sense an opportunity). That's how you get someone like Karen Whitsett, who has praised Trump for quack covid remedies, in office.

I've been genuinely confused by what the point of "abortion reversal" is? Based on the tiny failed study, it seems a lot more like a direct contraindication than an 'override'? The only reasons I can think of to be pushing this are 1.) Punishing people who dare take mifepristone 2.) Give the impression that abortion is reversible in the first place to try and drive up regret numbers or 3.) Eventually forcing it on people in jail for taking mifepristone or 4.) Pure delusion. Am I missing something?

It is a guilt tactic to "convert" vulnerable women (and raped children) who know they cannot handle being forced to bear a child They offer phony support with a medically discredited aka "quack" procedure.

My assumption has been that it is a sort of gaslighting to maximize the guilt and suffering of women choosing chemical abortion. Promoting this junk science implies there is a large population of fickle women who are changing their minds halfway through an abortion. The message is that foolish women obviously need, and will ultimately be thankful for, wiser minds to make decisions on their behalf. The idea that women confidently make decisions to end their pregnancies in dignity and privacy, and with no regrets or regard for their theology makes the priestly class apoplectic.

You said it far better than I.

Ohhhhh, that makes so much sense. Thank you, I tend to miss that avenue completely being like "who is this for? Who on earth changes their minds exactly halfway through anyway without external pressure?"

Religious freedom? Well two (or more) can play that game. The Satanic Temple has an Abortion Ritual for their congregants. I'm having some web issues, but you can find it on their site:

We must not inflict life on children who will be resented; we must not inflict unwanted children on society. Reproductive freedom is critical to a whole range of issues. If we can't take charge of this most personal aspect of our lives, we can't take care of anything.

58% of Ohioans support enshrining abortion rights into their state constitution. WE ARE GOING TO WIN. And that’s what I’m using to self-soothe on this dumpster fire of a day.

Look into The Family Leader. They are an anti abortion group headquartered in Iowa. They are also beginning to dip their hands into our local school board races.

Mifepristone now, then Misoprostol, then the birth control medications. It’s all part of their plan.

They are allergic to reality, because it does not conform to their patriarchal dogma. That is why they homeschool the girl-children especially, if they aren't educated properly, they are gullible to anything. That makes for great abuse victims.
