Here’s my prediction for the next step in the Republican Cruelty Playbook: They’re going to do everything they can to stop tests from being done -- either by defunding that part of prenatal care, outlawing the tests themselves, or marketing that it’s somehow sinful to test for fetal abnormalities. If it’s the tests that cause women to want abortions (in their warped view), they’re going to go after the tests. Am I crazy?

No, you aren’t crazy; in fact I think you’ve nailed it.

Sadly.

No, you’re right.

And it bears pointing out that three of the GOP Supreme Court justices who ruled against Cox (and humanity) this week are up for re-election next year.

Thank you for telling the story of Kate Cox’s doomed pregnancy with such compassion and insight. In these dark days women need to support and protect each other, especially in the absence of state governments that govern in the best interests of all their residents.

Show pitch: A Dexter, but for politicians like Ken Paxton.

I'm afraid the Schadenfreude from watching it, could prove fatal.

Their plan is to ENSLAVE women throughout the USA, even if women die in the process!

In Oscar Wilde's Portrait of Dorian Gray, the cynical Lord Henry says, "Philanthropic people lose all sense of humanity. It is their distinguishing characteristic." I think this applies to the so-called "pro-life" movement; they have lost all sense of humanity.

They seem to be very black and white thinkers, :"babies good, women must have them, and suffer."

Is there any information yet on what the Cox's might face when they return? Will bounty hunters be waiting for them at the airport or their driveway? Will they throw her husband in jail? I'm really concerned about the feasibility of them even being able to live there any more, especially since it's such widespread public news that she left the state for the procedure.

It's just BONKERS that we all have to worry about this. Land of the free, my ass.

I would think (hope) they would have considered that likelihood when they filed the suit. Is it possible they may be willing to martyr themselves for this, to force the issue, to be the heroes we so desperately need right now? Either way we can't thank them enough for their courage.

I am not surprised at the TX Supreme Court Justices ruling to overturn the lower court’s ruling. The “stay”

is a sign that they are not going to support it.

Again throw it back to the doctors. I know in this climate there are doctors that will question the decision made by

the abortion doctor and bring suit.

A big hot mess. Makes me sick. I hope the world is seeing how we are not America the Beautiful but AMERICA THE INHUMANE

Yes. It's crucial to remember that most women do not have access to lawyers and microphones. Most women are poor and so must suffer and die quietly. There is no way this is not already happening in poor communities. Kate Cox's willingness to take her story public is for these women too.

I already say they are a death cult. Especially for their captive women.

I keep meeting women over the past year who talk about wanting to move to Texas and how much they miss it or would just love to be there.

And... I. Don’t. Understand.

I believe it must be because they either aren’t paying attention to this space and/or they just can’t fathom this level of cruelty happening to people *like them.* But how many more Texas women must suffer or die for them to get it? The cruelty and hate is happening all out in the open.

I think it shows that we need to get the message to permeate deeper within the public, and the media is not going to be of much help. Of greater concern is that the Biden campaign may be useless on this too. If the fascists do win the election and take over this is how that kind of thing happens.

I really do wonder about the Biden campaign's messaging. I can even understand that they didn't "get it" at the beginning but now? I would appreciate a little fire. Even LIZ CHENEY is like, um, democracy is seriously endangered.

Kamala is doing the messaging speaking at colleges etc. The MSM is ignoring it so it looks like they aren't on our side.

One thing that sucks about POTUS elections is they are always expected to say “here’s why I am the best cause I am so awesome.” And I kinda feel like for this election the best case for Biden is less about him and more -- because of who he is -- about the team he brings in vs the people Trump works with and what they would do. Even Trump agrees his people are terrible.

Good thing Mrs Cox doesn't live in Lubbock County.

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas — Lubbock County commissioners on Monday approved an ordinance that will ban pregnant women from traveling through unincorporated parts of the county in order to obtain an abortion in another state.

So we might as well make a board game. Goal is to strategically secure all the key Texas roads with ordinances so no pregnant woman can travel safely out of state. Even if she's not seeking an abortion, an accident or sudden miscarriage and you lose the game. Getting Republicans elected to positions of power get you big points, bonuses if you do it through voter suppression or gerrymandering. Special 10K bonus trophies for snitching on neighbors ! The elected Texas Supreme Court’s ruling speculates that maybe the Texas Medical Board, chosen and appointed by an extremist governor and approved by an extremist Senate, should set standards. Problem is that there is no guarantee that, even if the members don’t have ties to the anti-abortion movement, they won’t be influenced by the same threats made by Paxton to fine and incarcerate them if he doesn’t like their decisions. The legislation creating these bans doesn’t give the board that power.
