Also, if you want to prevent abortion, you cover birth control. DUH.
And this affects men and women because title X funds sexually transmitted infection (STI) diagnosis and treatment. You want people to get: neurosyphilis? chlamydia and infertility that results from untreated STIs?
Title X also covers pap smears! Women will die of cervical cancer.
What people also aren't grasping is that we can't just put everything back when and if someone sane is running the show. Funding allocation for these things they are destroying took years to become reality. We have doomed a generation. And when I say we, I mean Republicans. My children are starting to launch and what they should be getting that better world we were creating before Republicans went all in for the long game of gaining power and control and stopped governing.
We were winning, I know I was there teaching teenagers for the past 22 years. In that time I watched students become less beholden to sexist ideas, have way more tolerance for Lgbtq classmates, and even shift around abortion. Trust me that's a big deal when most of the girls who were getting pregnant were from catholic immigrant communities who believe that abortion is a terrible sin, even if you are 15 which is why they also had babies as teens. I watched the society shift.
Those old ideas of these Republican assholes were dying which is exactly why the temperature is this high. That and Trump supporters are being fed constant propaganda and the internet allows hate and derision to travel at he speed of light. I am usually an optimist. I got nothing.
I think it's important to remind ourselves that the Planned Parenthood affiliates, domestic family planning centers and independent abortion providers that could, opted out of Title X during the Trump Admin 1 and 2 because of re-instatement of the Domestic Gag Rule. Even though they are not on this list, they certainly have been harmed by the loss of this support.
Actually only in the anti-abortion states did they opt out of Title X. Planned Parenthood in California and other states DEFINITELY rely on Title X to cover birth control and STI testing, etc.
Actually, Sophia, in NY. our Planned Parenthood opted out of Title X during Trump’s first term, not sure what is happening now, since I retired in 2020.
Hillary, Nancy, and Maxine's generation of women kept Roe safe for 50 years. They offered priceles opportunities to women and changed our position in society forever. Now we have to start it again! Never give up. They could make it, we should, too.

If voters kick these bastards to the curb in 2 years, how long will it take to reappropriate and reallocate funding? Will there be judges willing to risk defying the administration?
TN already lost its funding bc it refused to abide by the grants rules to provide abortion info. This state ruins its own people’s lives before Trump can. It’s insidiously cruel here.
My first baby has given birth twice in TN. It. was. terrifying. I'm on a birth equity taskforce in southwest Michigan and I knew about the frightening statistics, including that black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die related to childbirth. I also knew that neither my daughter's white skin nor her bank account guaranteed her safety in a state where sexism and racial bias are the rules, not the exceptions. So anywhere, frankly. I didn't want to make her more nervous than she already was, so it felt like the best I could do was, try again, and talk her into actually hiring a doula for her second baby. It helped me feel a pinch better and she said it made a huge difference during the birth. Thankfully everyone is good. But my heart breaks and I get so angry for people who can't afford a doula. In Michigan, this is recently a service covered by Medicaid and folks on our taskforce are training doulas who are black, as well as those who aren't, as fast as they can. It is unconscionable that we accept as a society that black families and all people of color, whose bank accounts and education levels can't keep them safe either, all experience higher maternal death rates than white women. And efforts to curb "DEI" progress will only ensure the horrors continue, including motherless children...that apparently this administration isn't going to feed anymore either. Eesh.

Men, or at least these men, apparently don’t get that young, essentially healthy women get their routine health care from gynecologists and other family planning providers. They do not go to internists, family docs, etc, they go to places that provide Pap smears, breast exams, pregnancy testing, STI testing, birth control and the like. In other words, family planning clinics. Even women with other health conditions often get their care from family planning clinics, which tend to be knowledgeable about women’s health issues and are generally female friendly environments.
