Ohio giving $5 million to CPC’s for 3D ultrasound machines is the most absurd thing ever. I can imagine thousands of other ways that money could be used for things that actually help people and that is shameful.
On the other hand- I have to put in a plug for the Maryland Public Health Abortion Grant Fund and Reproductive Justice Maryland who was instrumental in getting this piece of legislation passed!! 🙌🏻
Of the nearly three million dollars the organization spent in 2023, over $750,000 went to salaries and wages. Just 70,000 went to “telehealth.”
Unquote.
Something to maybe poke into is exactly who it was that was receiving these salaries and wages. Were any of them members of religious orders or clerics of any kind? If so, it could be that we are seeing the funding of religion itself, that these CPCs could not be considered simple non-profits.
A similar thing happening here in California is publicly advanced "housing for teachers". If the teachers are nuns or priests, then these are publicly funded convents and monasteries.
In Policing Pregnancy, we see where Justin Banta is accused of non-consensually administering abortion pills. A couple of things in this issue are missing. Giving somebody a medication without their permission is a crime, why is nobody being prosecuted for that? What about the woman? Why isn't she a complainant in this case? Doesn't she see herself as a victim? What if she had taken the abortion pills herself, this is Texas, could she be liable? How did this matter fall under the gaze of law enforcement?
To be really difficult, I'll ask. Should a woman be able to run off and bear the child of a man who she consented to have sex without his consent?
LOL. Heroic media's video looks like a "don't do drugs, kids" video from the 90's. I know better than to not take this shit seriously, but at least I have some comfort knowing their videos are going to be so very lame that it hopefully works against them. Abortion AF should set up a parody acct.
Earlier this month, Attorney General Andrew Bailey and anti-abortion politicians in Jeff City once again weaponized our political system against Missourians. With Amendment 3 temporarily halted on a technicality, Missourians should know that their tax dollars are being used to deny their constitutional rights––the exact type of political interference we rejected at the ballot box.
It’s important to remember that the Missouri Supreme Court ruling is tentative and is separate from the passage of HJR 73, the legislature’s deceptive new abortion ban which, if passed in 2026, would completely replace Amendment 3 with a total abortion ban.
As the recent Rewire New Group article from senior editor of law and policy Imani Gandi, Why Missouri Republicans Are Clinging to ‘Roe’ for Dear Life, states, “Missouri’s government is arguing that Roe still stands because the state’s new constitutional protections for abortion go further than Roe ever did. Suddenly, it seems, Roe doesn’t look so bad to the GOP.”
That’s right, in their attempts to further undermine the will of the voters and our newly established constitutional rights to abortion and reproductive freedom, Missouri officials missed one crucial detail: Amendment 3 sets a new legal precedent for our state that protects abortion access in a way Roe never did.
You can read more from ReWire here, but what’s really clear here is the confusion this new court action will cause among patients is the whole point.
Anti-abortion, anti-democracy politicians spent this past Legislative Session disrespecting voters at every turn: silencing testimony, removing constituents from hearings, and ultimately forcing another vote on another abortion ban ballot initiative. The political attacks haven’t let up, so neither have we.
I don't understand what the "health" in telehealth these crisis pregnancy centers could offer, the problem all along with funding them like they're comparable to Planned Parenthood is that they ABSOLUTELY are not providing any sort of healthcare. They don't offer routine gynecological exams and diagnostics like every Planned Parenthood, they can't diagnose or treat STIs like every Planned Parenthood. They don't have licensed healthcare providers, they don't have to follow HIPAA (HIPAA is still a thing, right?). What DO they do with the millions they are already getting? How stupid are our state legislators and/or how cruel ?
The end result of all this being that an increasing number of babies are going to be born to moms who received no prenatal care. 20% of births in this country right now are to women who show up at their local ER in this situation. And that's not all.
Hospital maternity units and entire hospitals are closing (including their ER's). So where are women gonna give birth? And with whose help?
“To restore justice and dignity to women by guaranteeing their Right to Support when facing an unexpected pregnancy.”
Too bad Republican legislators are shredding dignity with no justice to be found. Hell, not even worthy of a Pap smear. Signed a contract with the devil himself.
I sometimes wonde rwhat motivates women like Kristan Hawkins to think they have the right to impose their views on other people. Is it religious mania? A power trip?
I agree. I remember when I was growing up as a Catholic I would hear some of the teen girls talking about if the “ babies scream “ while being aborted. Thus the reason this abortion storyteller left the Catholic Church. 😉
Baaahaaaa! What if we took a different approach and acted like the pregnant person exists??? Geee whiz!! These are the worst people. It’s giving Handmaid’s Tale. Again.

Those heroic media videos - what the frack? were they recorded on VHS tape in the 70s and then badly edited? Wow.
Diabolical
Carlin was a national treasure
Thank you for this piece Jessica and Kiley.
It's hard to run a Telehealth operation when you don't have a licensed health care provider at the other end.
That doesn't mean you can't put on a white lab coat and pretend😂!

Sometimes the source material is so lame the parodies write themselves.
Exactly 🤦♀️

They probably use the funds for more forced birth propaganda, to kick back something to the politicians who sponsor these bills.
We knoe that these phony centers aren't providing much needed health care.
Health of the “unborn “
"Health of the unborn" to normal people would mean regular prenatal care-you can't have healthy babies without healthy mothers.
But I don't think I've ever heard of a CPC that actually provided that.
Know what they actually do, instead?
They make referrals to clinics that are funded largely by, hold on...MEDICAID!
I was being sarcastic Paula. You’re preaching to the choir. 🤣

I’m an Abortion storyteller with Planned Parenthood and reproductive advocate 😉 Paula!
I wasn't arguing with you.
I was just offering my own observations on the probable outcomes of all these bad decisions.

I miss him.
Me too!
www.charitywatch.org gives an F grade to any organization that spends as much on overhead as HeroicMedia does.
They're just a scam. I'd rather give money to Kars4Kids!😁

I remember Carlin began a routine by saying "I was a Roman Catholic...and thrn I grew"
Yes haha. I was a Catholic until I reached the age of reason (I believe he said). I miss him so much
I sometimes wonde rwhat motivates women like Kristan Hawkins to think they have the right to impose their views on other people. Is it religious mania? A power trip?
They are “saviors “ of the blessed unborn. Rescuing the helpless! That’s what I think 🤔 Sigh…
Probably there are somr forced birthers who genuinely believe that, others are opportunists

Both!
“a disconnect between what Republican legislators are doing and what voters want.” It's a conundrum isn't it? With no easy answer.
