How do they call themselves pro-life when banning abortions results in increasing maternal and infant deaths?

I’m sure someone has pointed out to Ezra Klein that “pro-life” ideology is a tool of fascism?

Outrageous of Klein ! So he'd sell women down the river. Done reading him. Our basic human rights, to life, liberty, healthcare, freedom, autonomy -- just like HIS -- are non-negotiable. Disgusting.

Not surprising to me that Ezra Klein would take this position. I think he sees himself as a tough-minded political pragmatist, willing to "take on his own side!!" Wow, so courageous. I personally think he's more of a waffler and a click-baiting Bari Weiss wannabe. And forced-birther Catholic Douthat -- no surprise there. Totally agree with the headline -- especially since increasingly pro-life equates with anti-woman. Thank goodness for the coverage we get from AED.

What the Democrats need to do is to spend some time making it clear that they are the party that respects ALL people's deepest values, unlike the other party. The pro-choice position allows someone to abhor abortion as much as they want, as long as they respect other people's values, including the value of having the freedom to make decisions in the best interests of your own family and loved ones.

My response to the Ezra Kleins of the world would be to emphasize that the Democrats are much closer to supporting the notion of Reproductive Justice, which includes the right to abortion, but also the equally important right to HAVE children, and the right to expect that you will be able to raise those children in communities that are healthy and safe for them. This would include access to healthcare, sane immunization policies, affordable nutritious food, good public schools that are safe and not plagued by gun violence, legal systems that respect families and don't disrupt them with arbitrary unwarranted arrests and detention by armed thugs. The list goes on and on ...

I really like this approach.

Ezra Klein has been advocating for Democrats to throw various groups under the bus almost weekly since November. I'm honestly surprised it took him this long to get to women. All of us need to unite to throw Ezra Klein and his brethren (Iglesias etc) under the bus and off a cliff or perhaps strapped to a rocket. They imagine a "win" gained by essentially adopting more and more conservative positions in their quest for the "moderate" vote that doesn't exist. Why are these men still employed? Why are these men still getting published? These men need to stfu and gtfo and go hang out with Stephen Miller as they clearly have more in common with him than actual Democrats.

As if women’s rights are negotiable. Eff off, dude.

If any candidate is not supportive of women making their own medical decisions, then they’re not really a Democrat. Ezra Klein’s candidate can run as a Republican. Can Ezra read a poll? Or ballot initiative results?

Talarico is someone I keep going back to as a possible Presidential candidate. He checks all the boxes that might appeal to “moderates” including a deeply religious part but he isn’t afraid to go up against Christian Nationalism directly and is a VOCAL supporter of trans rights on top of women’s rights. I would prefer Buttigieg, but in our current world, Talarico seems a solid frontrunner.

I suppose it makes sense (somehow, somewhere, among whom I don’t know) to throw women under the bus, where evidently there’s still some room after Democrat talking heads have already tossed LGBTQ folks and their rights. Human rights are forbidden territory these days for liberals, left to the Republicans to carry on their assault. “Democrats, abandon your core values and win the next election.” Is now the winning strategy? I call Bullshit!

It has been the steady march to the right of both Democrats and Republicans over the last two generations that has disguised the radical shift in American politics by eliminating the landmarks by which we get a sense of our political climate. The oligarchy, massively enriched during this period, which funds and largely controls both parties, bitterly detests even the most vaguely left-wing politics. This is who is really speaking through the guise of Ezra Klein and the political classes.

"Pro-life" Democrats, or as they're also known - Republicans! What's most interesting is if you talk to Republicans (I don't make a habit of it because I don't hate myself that much), most of them will say they don't agree with abortion and would NEVER opt for it themselves (lies but you keep that to yourself) but it's ok for people to have the choice. And then you're like, "Oh so you're actually pro-choice," and their minds are blown because lo! They aren't the "feminazi baby murderers" they seem to think we are??? Also, and I mean this with my whole chest - SHUT UP, EZRA KLEIN. He's been on my last damn nerve for at least a year.

“Pro-life Democrats” are politically incoherent. They clash with core Democratic values of bodily autonomy, offer selective concern for “life” that ends at birth, and provide cover for Republican abortion bans. They betray the majority of Democratic voters who support reproductive freedom and push a false “compromise” where the only side that loses is pregnant people. In short: they don’t represent moderation, they represent contradiction.

Pro abortion/pro choice is pro life.
