Some of you may remember me posting about our Planned Parenthood clinic defenders group picketing the churches of a couple of the anti-abortion protesters who were leaders in their congregations, one a pastor and the other a music director. The reason we got away with it is we were careful to stay on public property and did NOT attempt to enter church property.
At one point, local Satanists joined us and did attempt to attend services, but not to protest. They got all dressed up in their Sunday best, knocked and asked permission though; they didn’t just barge in. (They were turned away - in the rain, yet - and we spent the rest of the morning razzing the Christians about it. “Behold, we stood at the door and knocked, and Jesus turned us out in the rain!”)
Anyway, being a journalist doesn’t mean you can go anywhere you like with no consequences. If protesters marched into a federal building, journalists who followed them wouldn’t be immune to arrest and/or trespassing charges. For protesters who do those kinds of things, getting arrested is kinda the point: clogging up the system with minor offenses.
I’m going to disagree with you. This administration is trying to silence journalists. Worst of all they are pursuing the KKK act and FACE act to do it. They struggled to even find a judge to bless it. This is not a strong case and that’s ok because it’s not the point. The point is to intimidate their political opponents and force them into submission.
He got arrested. We didn’t. And we’re in Kansas, hardly a bastion of liberalism. If he hadn’t gone into the church, this wouldn’t be happening. He gave them an excuse to arrest him when he went inside.
Jenny Cohn, whose account is @jennycohn.bsky.social, has put up a webpage that looks abit like a graphic novel. She connects the dots behind the church where Don Lemon and Georgia Fort were charged with assault. Eye opening.
Glad Delaware is prepared to use its Shield Law 👏
Us as well.
Where Lemon messed up was entering the church.

Good point. Thank you
