"....it was not designed to do anything but block pregnancy."
EXXACTLY.
Memo to this piece of sperm-worshiping vagina on legs: Yes, indeed....Godforbid women refuse compulsory pregnancy! Henny Penny, the sky is falling, the sky is falling, women are refusing compulsory pregnancy! Women are refusing compulsory pregnancy! They must be stopped!
I really hope someone—someone who is better at this sort of thing than I am—is putting together figures and stats about what things are in our actual *treated* municipal water supplies (not our wastewater, ffs) represented relative to their known toxicity or potential real physical effect, rather than just parts per million or whatever. Lead! Forever chemicals! Glyphospate! And also comparable other biologics and medications we're all peeing into it. I mean, are regular pregnant people adding pregnancy hormones in there? Are teenagers washing away puberty hormones in their showers? How about Viagra or Tylenol?
Thankyou Jessica and thankyou to all the women who show such incredible courage. These assholes are not the majority, they are just loud, stupid bullies. It defies belief but truth will out.
It would appear that the latest nominee for Surgeon General, Casey Means, will be offering her megaphone to assist in going after birth control pills saying they may negatively impact women’s health and the pills “disrespect life”.
This nominee dropped out of her surgical residency program and does not currently have an active medical license. She is a “health influencer” and a close confidant of RFK jr.
Maybe if we are lucky all the “wellness influencers” will go away after this. I’m tired of being bombarded with ads about tinctures for endometriosis and food diets that cure cancer.
'The ‘beautiful’ piece Republicans want put up? An eight-foot bronze statue of a woman who appears as if she’s cradling a fetus in a dog dish.'
You’re not wrong — it does look like a dog dish. But these people are so incredibly ignorant they probably think a woman’s uterus is made of shiny metal.
Yeaaaah, if we're drinking people's miscarriages/abortions, then that would mean our entire water system has collapsed, and that would mean a lot bigger problems! LOL
I love pointing out how they completely ignore forever chemicals that are the real threat -- or ANY attention to the Flint water scandal -- but NOW want to co-opt progressive environmental activist language to go after the abortion pill. They are so completely disingenuous.
But to Jessica's other point: I'm also nervous about how many ways these white supremacists have their tentacles weaving around every corner of society. They have been winning the indoctrination war since Reagan took office, starting with how seamlessly they took over AM radio.
The problem is - they have all the money. Inherently, billionaires are not going to fund the programs and policies that will redistribute their wealth.
The NY Times just shamefully sanewashed Trump’s latest pick for Surgeon General, wellness influencer Casey Means. According to The Atlantic: She has said that the birth-control pill disrespects life because it is “shutting down the hormones in the female body that create this cyclical life-giving nature of women.”
Excellent. Birth control pills actually helped me manage Endometriosis for countless years before I was diagnosed and had surgery. I literally needed to shut down the hormones in my body to keep on going and being a productive member of society.

Like, real science for relative risk assessment.
how about we worry about heavy metals and plastics in our water, instead of biological compounds?
Why is she drinking untreated wastewater?
It is a dog dish! They should be prepared for that reaction from the dogs on the Texas Capitol grounds!

Ban all medicine? I mean, if birth control or abortion pills are in the water, then ALL medication is in the water. We are drinking Viagra!

My favorite are the "supplements" that promise guys they can shoot loads that a stud horse would envy.
Sorry to be gross but I'm not the chick who testified about chugging wastewater and started this conversation.
These folks are deranged and only seem to be getting worse.

It is a dog dish. The whole thing is vile.
Because we’re all bitches? 🤷🏼♀️
I can’t anymore. Today’s news is too much. I’m gonna dig out my ol’ Bad Religion band tee from the closet and go touch grass somewhere.

I was gonna say, you probably shouldn't be drinking wastewater whether there are abortions in it or not

Kristi, girl, WHY are you drinking wastewater?
As I pick my jaw up off the floor, I have a question: why does Kristi Hamrick drink wastewater? It's clearly not good for her brain.
That full SFL press release launched me into an previously-unknown dimension of cringe. Sheesh.
The laughter in the room when she said it - that sparked joy.
